Art is taught regularly across all key stages and is personalised to suit need. Pupils are given the opportunity to explore and develop their skills in using a range of media including textiles, painting, printing and sculpture. It is taught as a subject in its own right and at times as a therapeutic activity for some children. We have a wide range of texts and materials to offer pupils up to GCSE level where home school contact may be made.
Childrens’ work is valued and displayed around the school where possible. Artists, such as book illustrators, local painters and craft specialists are frequently invited to the school to deliver workshops and group activities, which children and young people have enjoyed. The school has been involved with arts projects on a county wide scale such as the Gorilla Project and on a more local scale where students from Exeter University have delivered a series of drama workshops.
