Music is taught as a subject at GCSE. As such national specification are followed where appropriate. It has particular importance with SEND children as a means of communication and giving pleasure. It is at times used informally to engage with children or can be taught in a more formal manner. The school has access to a range of percussion resources, keyboards and some stringed. There are a range of supportive texts and a wide range of music to listen to which is often used as part of the learning and at times therapeutic environment. Music is taught on the ward as well as the classroom. This could be to deliver theory or to engage with instrumental tuition or to experience and enjoy playing instruments together. At times musicians are invited to the school to engage children with music workshops.
